Many previously reported Jomon dogs have lost some of their teeth on the maxilla and mandible during their lifetime. Likewise, Dog #2 seems to have lost its second premolars on the right maxilla and left and right mandibles during its lifetime. The fact that it lost its teeth when it was alive suggests that the Jomon dog was used as a hunting dog, and fought with and caught game such as wild boar.
