Frontal View of Dog Cranium #2

Viewing the cranium from the front, the angle between a line drawn from the postorbital process to the zygomatic bone and a horizontal line drawn across the top of the cranium is more acute than it is in modern dog breeds—another feature shared with previously reported Jomon dog craniums. The eyes of the Jomon dog were likely more almond-shaped than modern dog breeds, and it probably had fierce facial features reminiscent of its wolf ancestors.
